A warm welcome to Munich and Servus, Philippe Coutinho. The German record champions have completed the signing of the world-class Brazilian. It’s obviously a great honour if you attract interest from FC Bayern, a wonderful, big, tradition-rich club. I can hardly wait to pull on the shirt and play. The Bundesliga will be enriched by a sensational player such as this. He’ll take our team up to another level, and that’s what everyone wants to see – we want to see it, the fans want to see it, and that’s what we’re looking forward to. The 27-year-old arrived in Munich on Sunday and completed the obligatory pre-transfer medical. He joins Bayern on an initial season-long loan from Spanish champions Barcelona until 30 June 2020. Bayern have an option to purchase the player after that – and for now add a gifted all-round attacker to their squad. I’m basically not the kind of guy who likes to talk about himself, but I play in midfield and try to create chances. Obviously, I also play my part in defending too. He can play out on the left, and he can play in central midfield. Obviously, he’ll set up our other attacking players really well, but he’s also a goalscorer himself, so we’re more flexible with him and have more options. And we simply add a fantastic player to our ranks. FC Bayern and the club’s fans can be delighted with the signing of the Brazil international, who already feels happy and content in Munich. In terms of my first impressions, I have to say I’ve not really been able to see much of the city yet, but the people I’ve got to know so far were all very polite and full of respect. I’ve had a bit of a look around the training facility here, and I have to say I’m very impressed, and just happy to be here. For now, what I can definitely say for certain is that every time I pull on the shirt, I’ll give everything for the club. So here we go – a very warm welcome to Munich and to FC Bayern, Philippe Coutinho.
